To Generate Additional Income
The income from these services helps support our core NHS budget, funding improvements in facilities, equipment, and staffing. All profits generated are reinvested back into the NHS.
Meet Patient Demand and Retain Consultants
Offering private services helps us reduce our waiting lists and give patients more choice, such as faster access to services, a more convenient appointment time or a choice of location for treatment. It also helps us to retain senior clinicians, who might otherwise work in independent hospitals for extra income.
Make Better Use of Existing Capacity
We schedule our private patient services to utilise spare capacity in theatres, wards, or diagnostic units during off-peak times. This can make our NHS assets more efficient without impacting NHS patient care (which remains our top priority). Our off-peak times are typically evenings and weekends which are also more convenient for private patients to manage around work or family commitments.
All of our private work is secondary to NHS provision and does not disadvantage NHS patients.
