What's included
One to one consultation
You’ll meet with one of our leading orthopaedic consultants to discuss your condition and treatment options. They will talk you through the procedure, discuss your x-rays and verify your diagnosis.
Surgery scheduling
Our private patients booking team will discuss available surgery dates with you and make a provisional booking.
Pre-assessment
Our experienced nursing team will carry out your pre-assessment for surgery. This might include heart scans, blood tests, extra scans or x-rays as required and a review with an anaesthetist to ensure that you are safe to proceed to surgery. The team will also help you get prepared and provide all of the information that you need.
Surgery
Your surgery will take place at the Nightingale Hospital Exeter or North Devon District Hospital. After a brief period of recovery, around 60% of patients are able to return home the same day although overnight care is included in the package.
Follow up and physiotherapy
At 2 weeks, a nurse will carry out checks to make sure that you are healing well and at 6 weeks you will have a follow up meeting with your surgeon and a physiotherapist. Your physiotherapist will provide a patient centred plan that supports your continued recovery, along with up to 3 physiotherapy appointments to support your progress and recovery.
Recovery rates for UKR surgery are very good
There is an optional final appointment with your consultant 6 – 12 months after surgery. These are rarely needed.

What is Uni-Compartmental Knee Replacement?
A Uni-Compartmental Knee Replacement is a surgical treatment designed for patients with arthritis or damage limited to one part of the knee joint. Our consultants carefully assess each patient to ensure this is the most appropriate treatment option for their condition.
Unlike a total knee replacement, this procedure preserves healthy bone and tissue, resulting in:
