Biography
Mr Antonio Manzelli is an UGI and HPB surgeon graduated (MD) and trained (CCST) at Tor Vergata University of Rome. He qualified with a PhD in Robotics at Tor Vergata University of Rome, a PhD in HPB at University of Verona and a MSc in Day Surgery at University of Venice.
He specialized in the US with a fellowship in Trauma at UPMC in Pittsburgh and a fellowship in Abdominal Organ Transplantation at UIC, in Chicago. He worked as a Consultant surgeon at Tor Vergata University of Rome Hospital before to move in the UK for a Fellowship in HPB at UOH, in Oxford.
He was appointed as Consultant Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgeon at Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust in 2011.
Mr Manzelli’s main interest is upper gastro intestinal and hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery and has gained a large experience in minimally invasive surgery. Mr Manzelli performs upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and surgery for gallstones, bile ducts, hernias, liver and splenic cysts, pancreatic pseudocysts, stomach/intestinal GISTs, spleen and small bowel.
He is author of numerous scientific papers and book chapters and his Scopus H index is 16. He is or has been PI in various local, regional, national and international audit projects as well as randomized controlled trials.
Mr Manzelli is an academic at the Medical School at University of Exeter and teaches Surgery at 3rd and 5th Years Medical Students.
