Biography

Mr Nathanael Ahearn is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist expertise in knee pain, sports injuries, and degenerative joint conditions. He adopts a contemporary, evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and management of knee pathology, offering the full spectrum of modern surgical treatments. His clinical practice encompasses arthroscopic (keyhole) procedures, ligament reconstruction, patellofemoral surgery, osteotomy (realignment) techniques, and partial or total knee replacements where clinically appropriate.

Mr Ahearn graduated from Imperial College London and completed higher surgical training within the Severn Deanery. He holds a Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the University of Bath, reflecting his long-standing commitment to the care of athletic injuries. His specialist expertise was further enhanced during a prestigious fellowship in Sydney, where he worked alongside teams treating elite Australian athletes.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Ahearn is actively engaged in surgical education. He mentors postgraduate surgical trainees, has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning for Health Professionals, and is a member of the Academy of Medical Educators. He has contributed extensively to the fields of trauma and elective orthopaedics through multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Mr Ahearn is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Association for Surgery of the Knee, the British Patellofemoral Society, and the Orthopaedic Trauma Society.
